BBQ Pork Ribs Recipe (American Style)

 🕒 Total Time: 3–4 hours

Serves: 4–6

🧂 Ingredients

For the Ribs:

  • 2 racks of pork baby back ribs (about 4–5 lbs)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional – helps tenderize)

Dry Rub:

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp paprika (smoked if you like)

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for a kick)

For Basting/Finishing:

  • 1 to 1½ cups barbecue sauce (your favorite store-bought or homemade)

🔥 Instructions

1. Prep the Ribs

  • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs (very important for tenderness).

  • Pat ribs dry and rub with olive oil and apple cider vinegar.

  • Mix dry rub ingredients and coat ribs thoroughly on both sides. Let them sit for 30 minutes (or refrigerate for a few hours/overnight).

2. Oven Method (or Grill Setup)

  • Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).

  • Wrap ribs in aluminum foil, meat side up, and place on a baking sheet.

  • Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.

(For grill: set up for indirect heat at ~300°F, cover, and cook with the lid closed.)

3. Sauce & Sear

  • Carefully remove ribs from foil.

  • Brush generously with BBQ sauce.

  • Place under broiler for 5–10 minutes (or on grill over direct heat for a few minutes) to caramelize the sauce.

4. Serve

  • Let them rest 5–10 minutes.

  • Slice between bones and serve with extra BBQ sauce!
